The Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India,located at Raisina hill in New Delhi,India. Until 1950 it was known as “Viceroy’s House” and served as the residence of the Viceroy and Governor-General of India. It is amidst an area known as Lutyens’ Delhi. At present,it is the largest residence of any Chief of the State in the world. The construction of the building was planned for 4 years,but World War I intervened and construction required 19 years to complete.Its first occupant,Lord Irwin,began occupation on January 23, 193113th February 2011: A commemorative postage stamp on LEGENDARY HEROINES OF INDIA

A set of four stamps and a miniature sheet to commemorate the occasion of 100 years of the world’s first official airmail flight. On 18th February 1911, a French pilot, Henri Pequet flew a small Sommer biplane carrying 6,500 letters from Allahabad to Naini. The journey was brief and lasted just thirteen minutes.The credit for the start of the airmail service goes to the Commander Sir Walter G Windham and the then post master general of United Provinces, Sir Geoffrey Clarke.

Shimla GPO-Shimla GPO on the Mall,established in 1883 on the site of a house known and as ”Cony Lodge”, is one of the oldest Post Office Buildings in the Country.During the British Raj, Shimla was the summer capital.
Delhi GPO-Delhi GPO is among the very few buildings of India Post which has been given the status of Heritage Building by the Archaeological Survey of India and is is in close proximity to the historical Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.
Nagpur GPO-Nagpur GPO considered the mother institution in the Postal Circle of the Central Province, is housed in a majestic Victorian building, once the seat of erstwhile Postmaster General Of CP & Berar.
Cooch Behar HPO-Cooch Behar HPO in 1875 the Post & Telegraph Office Of the Cooch Behar state is learnt to have been introduced under the administrative control of Rangpur Postal Division.
Udagamandalam HPO-Udagmandalam HPO The first Post Office at Udagamandalam was opened in 1826 with an establishment of a writer and two delivery peons.
14th April 2010: A commemorative postage stamp on ASTROLOGICAL SIGNS GEMINI
India post issued a set of 12 stamps depicting Astrological signs. The designs of the stamps are rooted in Indian folk art. They depict the 12 zodiac signs against four base colors reflecting the elements of earth, air, fire and water. The miniature sheet is based on the format of a horoscope.
19th December 2009: A commemorative postage stamp on PRESERVE THE POLAR REGIONS AND GLACIERS
In 2009, Finland, Chile and about 40 other countries will issue stamps on climate change. The common theme is Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers. The international stamp campaign is being coordinated by Itella’s Philatelic Centre in Finland.
Each participant country will issue its stamps on its own schedule in the period January-March 2009. Each country will also decide independently on the illustration theme for its issue.

One stamp is on legendary poet Jayadev and the rest 10 are of incarnations of Lord Vishnu known as “Dasavatar” in Hindu scriptures.All the stamps are in the denomination of Rs 5. These 11 stamps form a long a se-tenant strip of about 21 inches in the sheet of stamps and probably the first of its kind.
